First Moon Landing

52 years ago, the most spectacular event happened that changed our civilization as a whole. 3 humans, aboard on a Saturn V rocket were to do something never ever done before – to land on the Moon, yes the same Moon that has been lighting up Earth’s night sky since ages, and every human being, not only would have, at least once, admired our only natural satellite, but deep inside, would have definitely dreamt of going up there.

This curiosity, this inherent nature of exploring is deeply rooted in our DNA and on 20th July, 1969, 3 courageous humans finally brought it out and landed on the Moon, bringing the whole world to a standstill. Though it was the technological capability of one nation, these men went on behalf of mankind.

Imagine being out there, in the emptiness of space, just few inches of a metal container separating you from the harmful radiations, on to a voyage encompassing approximately 3,00,000 kms away from Earth, and that too when both the Earth and the Moon is in continuous orbit of the Sun.

Travelling linear is one thing, performing a circular orbital motion and that too in space, is an altogether a different cup of tea. Inspite of all the permutations that could have gone wrong (not forgetting the alarm that just went off before touching the Moon), the Apollo mission did what every eyes had dreamt of.

Today, as we celebrate the historic event of those astronauts landing in the Sea of Tranquility, let’s hope tranquility, in the true sense, prevails over all the adversities engulfing Earth. One small step, whether on the Moon, or here on Earth, is always going to be a giant leap for Mankind!!
